UN announces the Principles for Responsible Investment
NYSE, April 27, 2006
Kofi Anann, the Secretary General of the United Nations, announced the unveiling of the Principles for Responsible Investment.
Developed by leading institutional investors, ‘the Principles include environmental, social and governance criteria and provide a framework for achieving better long-term investment returns and more sustainable markets. It is my hope that the Principles will help to align investment practices with the goals of the United Nations, thereby contributing to a more stable and inclusive global economy. I invite institutional investors and their financial partners everywhere to embrace the Principles and bring them to life in their daily activities and decision-making. By acting collectively on the basis of the Principles for Responsible Investment, we can help protect all the world’s precious assets.’
